In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re more aware of how infections spread than ever before. Inf
ection control methods have always been a priority, but now we need to take things a step further. At Jefferson Dental and Orthodontics, we are going the extra mile to keep you and our team safe.

The Importance of Hand Washing

Hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs and viruses like COVID-19. We’re not talking about a quick flick of water and a spritz of soap; you need to wash the right way.

The CDC recommends washing your hands for twenty seconds, and there are plenty of ways to pass the time while you scrub. Some people sing “Happy Birthday,” but there are plenty of tunes to fit your taste. May we suggest the chorus of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” or “Respect” by Aretha Franklin?

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

As dental professionals, gloves and masks are a part of our everyday gear. We follow all CDC protocols, especially for PPE, and we change out our disposable items regularly to prevent the spread of germs. You’ll even notice that our front desk team is wearing masks now, too!

Practicing Social Distancing

Social distancing is not just the buzzword of 2020. It’s also an effective way to limit the spread of viruses. We’re doing our part to keep space between you and our other patients without compromising your dental needs. Please help us by observing the distancing markers located throughout our offices and waiting in your car until we’re ready for your appointment.

Monitoring Symptoms

Catching a virus early is critical in preventing its spread and getting people the treatment they need. We’ll take your temperature when you arrive for your appointment, but we also are checking our team members’ temperatures every day.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Infection control is more important than ever, and we are taking extra care with everything from dental instruments to the surfaces of common areas. We’re frequently wiping down and disinfecting everything that is commonly touched, including desks and doorknobs!
