Reasons to Smile Before Summer is Over

On September 15, 2020 Written and Reviewed by JDC Content Committee

Reasons to smile before summer is overWhether you love it or hate it, summer is coming to a close. It’s been an entirely different summer than we’re used to, but that doesn’t mean it was all bad. Plus, we have a lot to look forward to, right? Let’s take a look at some reasons to smile before summer is over.

Sure, too many people hit the beaches in Florida, but a lot of good things happened this summer. Plus, the end of summer always means the start of fall, so let’s take a look at some of the things that made us smile. Hopefully at least one of them will put a grin on your face.

1. Saving the Bees

Detroit is home to hundreds of vacant lots, and honeybees have been in danger for a while. So, Detroit native, Timothy Paule Jackson decided to do something about both. He started a Bees in the D, a non-profit to educate and preserve honeybees.

2. Kids Got Creative

As much as adults struggled with the lockdowns, working from home, and even job loss, kids lost just as much. Of course, kids are resilient, and they proved it many times over this summer. From building a floating vessel to learning new skills to advocating for a cause, these kids took summer in a different direction.

3. Drive-Ins Made a Comeback

From movies to concerts, drive-in shows made a comeback this summer. Drive up in your car with your own snacks and enjoy a movie or concert without risking exposure. It’s easy to practice social distancing and experience entertainment outside your house.

Bonus: it’s nostalgic for those of us old enough to remember the magic of drive-in movies!

4. Restaurants Started Unique Social Distancing Efforts

Many people rely on restaurants, so things got a little hairy when they closed down for the pandemic. Restaurants weren’t about to be deterred by a virus, so they got creative with ways to enforce social distancing and still serve meals. We can’t decide if we would rather dine with mannequins or wearing inner tubes.

5. Doggie Dentures

Who hasn’t seen the pup who stole a new smile? If you haven’t, you need to see the dog who stole dentures from his owner’s mother and smiled for the camera.

Smile and Embrace the Last Days of Summer

So, summer didn’t look quite the same. As you can see, it wasn’t all bad, and that means there’s more good stuff to look forward to. Smiling in the face of adversity is a strictly human quality, and one we need to hang onto as we enter fall.

Even if you don’t love fall, it means pumpkin spice, Halloween and fewer bugs. It’s football (even if it looks different) and back to school (also different). Maybe it’s time to embrace the difference and keep looking for the good stories that happen every day.

Before fall hits, take advantage of these awesome summer promos that were extended for a little longer. Book an appointment with Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics before these summer deals expire. So let’s remember these great reasons to smile before summer is over!
