#DentalSAFETY Why It’s Safe To Visit Your Dentist

On June 24, 2020 Written and Reviewed by JDC Content Committee

#DentalSafety Movement

During quarantine, dentists continued to treat emergency situations for patients but not one case of COVID-19 was traced back to a dental appointment. Unfortunately, many patients still avoid the dentist. Enter the #DentalSAFETY Movement!

This movement is a joint effort between dental offices all over the country to assure patients they can safely attend appointments for check-ups, teeth cleanings, and other dental services. In the wake of COVID-19, dentists and their teams want you to know that they are going the extra mile to protect you.

Why It’s Important to Keep That Dental Visit

While it is true that COVID-19 spreads via bodily fluids, like saliva, dental offices are taking steps to protect you, and their teams, from exposure. It’s actually more dangerous to you to put off your dental check-up!

There is a known link between poor oral health and other health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes. Further, COVID-19 is more dangerous for people with pre-existing conditions, like diabetes and heart disease.

Aside from putting yourself at greater risk, neglecting your teeth and gums could lead to bigger problems. Remember, regular check-ups allow your dental team to identify any issues before they advance to emergency situations.

What Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics is Doing
