“Jeffy” Motivates Local Kids to Keep Their Teeth Clean

On May 23, 2013 Written and Reviewed by JDC Content Committee

At Jefferson Dental we understand the importance of reaching out to our little patients and making sure they grow with a healthy smile. In order to do this Jefferson Dental has begun a new initiative with school districts around the Metroplex to educate students about the importance of oral health and teach habits to prevent early childhood tooth decay.

This past school year Jefferson Dental partnered with districts in Dallas and Fort Worth for the opportunity to improve oral health in schools such as L.B. Barton Elementary and T.J. Lee Elementary. Students, from grades K-6th, had the opportunity to receive essential information from our very own Jefferson Dental staff on how to take care of their teeth. The students were reminded of the importance of brushing twice a day for at least two minutes and visiting the dentist at least twice a year. They were also educated on the importance of not only brushing but also of eating healthy. Sweets and sugars found in candy and soft drinks are the leading cause for child oral health problems such as cavities and tooth decay. Our very own “Jeffy”, the JDC mascot, was present to interact with the kids and take pictures.

The students were given a dental kit with all the essentials to keep their dental hygiene in tip-top shape. For many of them it was their very first time learning about dental health and we could see the excitement in their faces and eagerness to put it to practice.

This is a very important program that Jefferson Dental Clinics looks forward to continuing for this next year and moving forward. At Jefferson Dental we are committed to being an active educator to the community. We pride ourselves in taking care of people one smile at a time.

Our Jefferson Dental Content Committee supports our team by educational and informational articles related to what we do, oral care tips, and current events in our communities.
