March 29, 2015: Jefferson Dental team members from throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex united to feed homeless residents in need of a hot lunch at Dallas Life, a non-profit homeless shelter located in downtown.
A total of 20 Jefferson Dental Clinics team members from the West Irving clinic, Gran Plaza clinic, Grand Prairie clinic, Hurst clinic and the corporate office assisted in prepping and serving in the Dallas Life kitchen.
The day began with the team prepared vegetables for soups and dishes for the upcoming week. Team members then served hot meals and greeted more than 250 Dallas Life residents who are housed in the shelter.
Dallas Life is a nonprofit organization that serves homeless men, women and children by providing basic services such as shelter, meals and transitional support to encourage a path of recovery and self-sufficiency. The shelter kitchen provides about 900 nutritious meals to residents each day, and relies heavily on volunteer support to serve meals.
Jefferson Cares is the embodiment of Jefferson Dental Clinics’ mission to provide quality health care to the community, by building ties with community groups, strengthening employee engagement and encouraging healthy practices in the communities the clinics serve. Each month, the Jefferson Cares program gives Jefferson Dental Clinics team members the opportunity to donate time at a non-profit organization that benefits those in need.
